Quote from ColeusRattus :People should start to use the lump of grey stuff in their heads for other purposes than preventing their skulls to collapse.

Would we all have the patch rather now than later? Yes.
Does moaning and names calling make the patch get released faster? Nope.
Will people complain instantly about the patch once it's released? Yes.

That kinda covers it I think

Only idea I got, is cruise servers, but hopefully there is not so manny "nutters" irl

It will help of the awarenes, looking in mirrors, keeping speed limits aso. guess it is a okay way to get the "basics", but irl practise is best imo

This is just awsome, more detales regarding onjects(tyres/cones/barrieres/aso) would be awsome

Lovely work, I bookmarked the page for later use

Quote from kamkorPL :
Plus I want to make sure that dedi host will have SteerLock in host name and link to mod in welcome.txt. A way to filter the servers for those, who don't want to join them. I don't have a problem if you edit the dedi yourself, as long as it doesn't allow cheating like use of lfstweak and as long as it is ok with lfsforum.net moderators.

In other words, you deside who can/can't use the aprooved modified dedi host, adding "steerlock" in servername + url in welcome.txt is no problem anyway.

Quote from kamkorPL :We are not making this elite, I simply can't share dedi exe. But I found a solution to let people host dedi without sharing the exe. 500servers.com will have an option to host modified steering lock dedis. The same goes with lfshost.eu.

You accualy are making it elite, only ppl who rent servers from 500servers.com or lfshost.eu can get it, are you sponsored?
Ppl wich GOT a good host, need to rent from elsvhere to get this working?

Quote from Boekanier :Hi Pox3d,

Sorry, but at the moment I am busy with making a new scene.
here's a taster.

i'am still playing with the lights.

Sweet, I think there is something familiar with the scene

Lighting looks good, but I guess you wan't it perfect as always

I have calkulated that if you use 720 on original stock lfs, 900 @ 47 lock(same settings in lfs/profiler with/without mod), it is not much diferent in wheel ratio/feedback from wheel(just more lock )

Might be interesting for ppl who use both stock and mod servers, and don't want to loose any "feal" of a stock car

Don't flame me if the tip is useless xD

A couple I have gotten:

*Sorry, boob on tv
*my wheel loosened
*you where too sideways
*antivirus/update/aso. popped up
*I sneezed

These are from cruise and drift servers, since i don't race much though:dnfnoob:

Holly bump xD

Quote from XCNuse :LFS taught me how to parallel park perfectly.. dunno what you're talking about.

When you are taking a driving test or otherwise you can't change your mirrors.

Really they don't need to be adjustable, the angles just need to change to be like more realistic mirrors so they don't overlap that much.

So when there is NO car in the mirror while parking, and you hit it, sight is perfect?

Unsure what driving test you are talking about, but for a (road)lisence in Norway, the adjustment of the mirrors/seat is a part of it(forget and probably fail).

You are probably talking about race cars, wich have a crew that adjust E V E R Y aspect of the car, they don't care if you see the sky or rearwheels in sidemirrors? :P

My point is, that for a driving to feal real, the stuff you accualy SEE while driving, must feal real

Quote from pandera :well, in many ways the more realistic the better but i'm not so sure on this occasion

we talking about screens here, with very limited angle of view comparing to real life and these less realistic mirrors are simply helping to avoid complete mayhem during close racing, get into any car behind the wheel and compare what you can see with the view you get on a screen, there is a huuuuuuge difference and because of that some tricks must be in use to make up for it

I agree fully, when close racing you cant turn heads to look at your side, you will probably hit the brakedevil infront of you.

Better mirrors will help keeping track of your surroundings, and sure, it also help in drifting&cruising, but so what, how can realism fail as an argument?

+1 from me

In rally + drifting, e-brake is used alot, and a stock car should be able to lock the rear wheels when aplied(my stock 91mod Vectra 1.8i does :P )

I also agree, but a option to set witch tyres to replace also would be usefull.

If you wear one tyre due to a small damage on suspension, it would be usefull to change that tyre only, not all four(shorter time in pit)

tnx again for feedback

I like Headhunters, and I know it was a risky choise(but the lyrics almost nailed all member colours )

I had hdd issues when I made the video, lack of space for fraps material, so had limited material

I'll keep it in mind if I make another video

I just adjusted my cruise/cop set(alot), and this is my best(tuned/drove for about 30 min.)

I'm more of a drifter than a drag racer though

I'm realy looking forward to the tyre physics to get here, realism ftw

I know I'm a sim drifter in a race sim, but if it gets even MORE "close 2 home", gets more dificult, I will feal more satisfied kicking it sideways with(some degree of) controll

I also hope the "soap tyres" will be gone, and behave like tyres do irl when "abused"

THANK YOU scawen & co. for coming with updates for the best driving experience I ever have bought for my computer!
*not brown-nosing, he don't care much for drifting anyway*

Keep up the good work, you are doing a great job

btw: love the new lights/instrument-pannels/lisenceplates/wheels btw, will plates&wheels be added as "skins" later?

O/T:
All the "heated discutions" in this thread was rather anoying, but I'm glad it is calm and "on topic" now.

Quote from Ivo Georgiev :How about keeping the current setup options, maybe adding more (let's say more maximum lock), and then adding the option for every server, to limit precisely the setup options, so every server admin can decide what option to limit in his server. For example, an racing server should limit the maximum lock. I read somewhere that intake restriction and so on can also be forced by the server. That should be possible for all setup options.

That will also bring the ability for racing servers to limit the setup only to driving style adjustments.

I like this idea, a filter "removing" all servers with +36 degrees would also make it easyer for racers to ignore drift servers

I have only read the last page of this, but I can't see the harm in making lfs more desirable for drifters, it would probably make more ppl buy it, witch is good for everyone?

Yes, I'm a lfs drifter, but flaming ppl for using a awsome simulator(not directed to anyone spesific), for a different genere of motoring is just unmature

I guess we will sw what the dev's have in store for the next official patch

Quote from JasonJ :No, that has nothing to do with it. Nothing about you English skills, that doesn't worry me, nothing about inSim skills, everyone is learning all the time. You have missed my point. The saying goes,
Both are black in colour.

Once upon a time it's okay for YOU to ask stuff about cruise options yet now you are 'grown up' you are able to say simply, "this is race sim" type of comment just for the sake of it, when once you were in his shoes. My how you have 'grown'. Must be good to have graduated to the race-sim only club, or was that the iDrift club? ~.~

Look forward to you saying in few years that drifting also has no point in a race-sim.

And as for thread topic, no - there won't be open tracks for a while, if ever. Would be nice for some free roam play, but will most likely not happen because of the extra work involved to redevelop the graphics rendering engine and as some have pointed out, because the way the tracks are structured it's not possible to change easily. Focusing on opening up tracks would slow down progress towards important things like improved physics, damage and realism.

You probably have to wait until the time when users can build their own tracks and if that will be possible no-one yet is certain.

Thank you for a mature, educating, and to-the-point answer
